Hi, and welcome,
This is pothead to providence. It’s a place where you will find lots of useful guidance and information to help you on your journey of life. Here you will find a range of personal development topics to help you master your own body and mind. You’ll find hope, inspiration, motivation. All the things that will help you live the life you want to live. Help you feel alive.
And just to show you it’s real I’m not afraid of showing you the dark times either. The times where life is tough. The times that are hard to get through. The times things just don’t go according to plan. Those times are just as important. They are the times that help build your character. Life isn’t all rainbows and roses after all. It’s dark clouds and manure too.
The providence of the title isn’t exactly God. The Collins dictionary defines providence as: “God, or a force which is believed by some people to arrange the things that happen to us“. I believe we are that force. That it lies within us all. That we can tap into it and steer our lives in the direction we want. And all that it takes is for you to believe it. To believe in yourself. To not sell yourself short.
My name is Chris. (CJ are my initials). I was the pothead.
I started this blog in January, 2019, mainly as a way of keeping myself accountable to the new direction I have been taking in my life. Since I began I have realised that I really enjoy being able to help people. It has become my mission to spread as much hope, positivity, motivation and inspiration, as I can. To let people, like your good self, see that whatever our dreams are, whatever we want from life, it is all there for us. We just have to seek it, strive for it, and make it real.
To give you some backstory. I am a single man with a currently 10-year-old son. Up until March of last year I was also a married man. I was married to the mother of our son. Just weeks before our 10th anniversary she decided she had enough of our marriage and moved out. It was the worst thing to ever happen to me, to us. I was devastated, our son was devastated. It was a very dark time for us.
The thing is, I don’t blame her. Before that time, I had no real hope or aspirations. I had allowed my dreams to fade away many years ago. I did nothing but work in jobs I hated for as long as I can remember. I suffered a lot from depression. Frankly, I was living a life of slow death. The only thing I put any effort into was the raising of my son.
During all those years I also smoked a lot of marijuana. I smoked almost daily for over 20 years. I wasted a lot of years being wasted.
A few months after our separation I decided that the life I was living wasn’t good enough. It wasn’t good enough for me. It wasn’t good enough for our son. I took the decision to do something about it. Through a combination of listening to a lot of personal development books and exercise I managed to quit that long-term smoking habit.
Not only that, but I realised in the very core of my being that there was so much more to life. For the first time I started to believe that my son and I could have a much better future. I also realised that it was up to me to make that true. And I found something within me. Something that lies within us all. To start making that future great.
It is my hope that others can learn from my mistakes. And learn before they have to suffer the consequences of any bad decisions they may be making right now. It is also my hope that by showing the things that worked for me, by leading by example, by constantly striving for that better future, that someone else can see that they can do that too. That it’s never too late to turn your life around. Become a better version of yourself.
I’m nothing special. I’m just a man trying to get the best from life. I’m just a man who would love for others to realise that they can do that too! This life is what we want to make of it. Yes, it’s not always easy. Yes, we sometimes fall along the way. But we can always get up and keep moving, keep striving, keep giving life our best.
I hope you’ll join me on this journey. The journey we are all on. The journey of our lives.
I wish you the best of luck and much love,
We’ve got this! 🙂
P.s. Sometimes I will talk about certain products like Audible or other personal development books or ideas in some of my posts. I will only ever talk about things that I have tried. Things that have worked for me. Like The Top 3 Personal Development Books That Drastically Changed My Life or The Top 5 Audiobooks That Helped Change My Life.
The reason why Audible is such a big thing is because I believe that being able to fill my mind with thoughts of change, and hope, and empowerment, wherever I was, be that driving, or vacuuming my house, or cleaning dishes, really helped me become the person I am today. I’ll always be a life-long fan. It helped save not only my life but my son’s as well.
